Is a License Required To Lease My Own Property?

Many have understood it to be that when you are representing someone else to lease or sell, that you need to have a license, but not necessarily if you are selling or leasing your own property, at least here in Ohio. What’s important to note, is that I am no attorney, however, you need to be sure to check with your state’s real estate division or attorney before placing your property on the market if you are not certain.

There are many benefits to hiring a licensed professional leasing agent or management company, such as the ability for the company assisting you to generate credit or background reports, screening of applicant information and verification of income and assets in some cases.  Every broker and management company is different.  Be sure to ask the questions upfront on how much or small of service they will be to you so that you know what to expect and/or what you need to do to get the full picture of the prospective applicant looking to rent or lease your property.  If you need assistance leasing a residential or commercial piece of real estate, contact.
